It's primary day around the nation.

President Barack Obama is not on the ballot, nor is the Republican Senate leader, Kentucky's Mitch McConnell. But both have a stake in contests testing the tea party among Kentucky Republicans and the durability of Democratic incumbents in Arkansas and Pennsylvania.

Five-term Sen. Arlen Specter is fighting for his political life as today's Democratic primary in Pennsylvania is too close to call. It's a year since he switched parties. Rep. Joe Sestak charges Specter with abandoning principal for political survival in switching parties.

Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Lt. Gov. Bill Haltera are in a tough primary in Arkansas.

Rand Paul is predicting victory in today's Republican Senate primary in Kentucky. His chief opponent, Secretary of State Trey Grayson, says the tea party favorite has a false sense of security.
