There's word that President Barack Obama won't accept any of the Afghanistan war options before him without changes.
A senior administration official says Obama isn't satisfied with any of the options presented to him by his national security team. The president instead is pushing for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government.
Obama's position comes amid growing concerns over the ability of the Afghan government to secure its own country.
A second administration official says Obama's ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, is strongly disagreeing with the idea of a U.S. troop increase.
Eikenberry is said to be concerned that bolstering the American presence in Afghanistan could make the country more dependent on the U.S., not less.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss administration deliberations.
