Aides say President Barack Obama is preparing for a State of the Union address that will refocus -- but not redefine -- his presidency.

With his poll numbers down and facing a resurgent Republican party, Obama knows a lot's riding on this week's speech. Aides say Americans will see an energized Obama, but not one who's suddenly decided to alter course.

Adviser David Axelrod says Wednesday's speech will focus on job-creating plans. He says the administration continues to share the public's dismay with a financial sector that has returned to
massive profits and huge bonus pay-outs.

In keeping with the economic theme, Obama is meeting later today with his White House Task Force on Middle Class Families. He'll be discussing what the administration is doing to help people struggling in the recession.
