Pueblo City Council was told Friday during a work session that preliminary steps were being taken to prepare for a campaign visit from President Barack Obama; the city had been contacted by Obama's staff. Councilman Chris Nicoll says the announcement from the City Manager was brief. He says they were told because of the city resources that would need to be pulled together for an event like that to go smoothly.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports that the visit is scheduled for August 10th.

Ron Greenwell with the Pueblo County Democratic Party said he had heard that the President might visit soon, but just found out last week about the planned visit scheduled for August 10th.

Greenwell says he's excited and feels this will get people ready for November's election against challenger Mitt Romney.

Jerry Denney, vice chairman of the Pueblo County Republican Party, says as of right now he's not aware of any plans for a Romney visit to Pueblo, but says they would love to have him.

"Enthusiasm for Mr. Romney is high right now in Pueblo," says Denney.

Election Day is November 6th.
