The state forest service is planning to conduct prescribed burns starting as early as next week along the north shore of Eleven Mile Reservoir in Park County. The burns are intended to reduce risk of a high-intensity wildfire. Forest managers also want to encourage grass growth through the dense ponderosa pine forest.

Smoke from the burn area should be visible from Lake George, Hartsel and Eleven Mile Village. The Woodland Park District of the Colorado State Forest Service will only conduct the burns during suitable weather conditions.
