HUGO, Colo. (AP) - Preliminary hearings are scheduled Sept. 21 for a father and son facing charges after an accident on Interstate 70 that killed two Texas women.
State troopers say a 16-year-old boy from Louisiana was driving a semitrailer that struck two women who were changing a flat tire near Limon last month. The crash killed 48-year-old Shun Jones of Carrolton, Texas, and 38-year-old Amanda Omo-Iyamu of Balch Springs, Texas.
Troopers have accused the teen's father of falsely saying he was the driver, not the boy.
Our sister station KUSA-TV in Denver reports prosecutors also are accusing the boy's father of telling the teen to leave the scene.
It's not clear whether the boy had a license to drive the truck.
The boy and his parents didn't comment after a court hearing Friday.
