Pikes Peak Community College has announced that Lance Bolton, Ph.D. has been appointed as the school's new president. Bolton is currently the president of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. He will assume his new role on June 13.

Dr. Nancy McCallin, president of the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) says she is pleased that Dr. Bolton has accepted the position.

"He is an outstanding president at NJC and will do an excellent job at Pikes Peak!" McCallin said.

"Under his leadership, NJC experienced growth in enrollment, the establishment of the Hope Scholarship program, increased fundraising, and the construction of a new dormitory which will allow the college to serve more students."

Bolton will replace interim president Dr. Ed Ray who has been at the helm of the city's largest community college since September of 2010 when then president Dr. Tony Kinkel resigned. Bolton was selected for the post from a field of three finalists.

He and his wife Lorrie have two children ages 11 and 13.
