Powerball jackpot grows to $140 million

The Powerball jackpot is expected to grow to an estimated $140 million for Saturday after no one matched all six of the numbers in the midweek drawing.

Wednesday's winning numbers were 17-22-36-37-and-52. The Powerball was 24 and the multiplier was 2.

Players matching all five numbers and the Powerball would have won or shared the $116.5 million jackpot.

Two Power Play ticket sold in Louisiana and Pennsylvania matched the first five numbers only to win $1 million each. Colorado's top prize was $200 each for 53 Power Play tickets that matched other number combinations.

Powerball was created in 1992 and launched in Colorado in 2001. It's now played in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
