A distracted driver who told police that her ashtray fell out onto the floor of her car, crashed into a utilities hub, knocking out phones and cable to part of the Belmont neighborhood in Pueblo. She sheared off a utility pole, coming to rest on top of the stump. The wires were still live, Black Hills Energy had to cut power to the neighborhood so the woman could safely be removed from her car. She suffered a cut lip.
Crews are now laboring to replace the power pole, and the Qwest and Comcast boxes. Power was restored by mid-afternoon.
