NEW YORK (AP) - Anthony Weiner is trying to ward off yet another sexting scandal that jeopardizes his remarkable political recovery.
Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after admitting he sent lewd pictures to women he never met. This week, he was forced to admit that behavior continued even after he stepped down from office and continued into last summer.
Weiner had been near the top of most Democratic primary polls in the New York mayoral race, but his support quickly tumbled in the wake of the new revelations.
Pundits are torn as to whether he can still win.
One advised him to "just keep campaigning" because New Yorkers like a "tough guy" and "a fighter." But another said that Weiner was "finished" and that voters were fatigued of scandalized politicians.
