WESTMINSTER - Police say a woman in Westminster is charged with first-degree murder after she ran over her husband.
Right before the incident, the woman, 38-year-old Nancy Jo Arias, and her husband, 38-year-old Phillip Lobato, were arguing in the car over allegations that Lobato was cheating just after midnight on Monday, according to court documents.
Police say Arias ran over Lobato because the victim hit Arias several times in the face during the argument.
Arias was arrested by police at the scene. When officers first arrived, Arias said: "You might as well take me now. I ran him over."
Police said that Arias fell to the ground in tears when they told her that her husband was dead.
"I shouldn't have done that. It was a reaction, Oh Nancy," Arias said.
Court records state that Arias had a bloody nose and lips. Police said that an officer smelled alcohol on her breath.
Arias said that she and the victim had been together since they were 14-years-old. Police say Lobato had been to prison. She will be advised of the charges at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
