DENVER (AP) - Denver police say a robbery suspect who was shot and killed by officers had fired on one bystander, tried to kidnap another and shot at officers who were pursuing him.

The medical examiner said Wednesday that 24-year-old Mark Sepulveda was killed by a gunshot wound in his chest.

Police were responding to a report of shots fired during a robbery Tuesday when they saw two suspects running away.

Authorities say Sepulveda tried to steal two vehicles, firing into one but missing the driver. Police say Sepulveda then tried to kidnap another driver and steal that person's SUV.

The second suspect was arrested nearby. Police say 21-year-old Justin Michael Martinez is being held on suspicion of aggravated robbery and is wanted in the Denver suburb of Lakewood. They didn't say why.
