FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Police are investigating after more than 20 business leaders in Fort Collins said they were surprised to find their names on a petition opposed to a proposed ban on fracking within the city.
The petition was given to the Fort Collins City Council in February by a state oil and gas association opposed to the ban.
According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan (http://tinyurl.com/kfwxu3s), some business representatives say someone else signed their names, while others say they did not know what they were signing.
A consulting firm that circulated the petition says it did not verify all signatures, and the purpose of the petition was not misrepresented.
