Aurora Police: Officer kills armed man during probe

AURORA (AP)-Authorities say an Aurora police officer shot and killed an armed man during a drug investigation.

Aurora police said in a statement that the shooting occurred Thursday night on Macon Street as the narcotics unit was conducting surveillance on the subject of the probe.

At one point, an officer said he was being approached by an armed man. Police say the officer fired his gun and hit the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two guns were recovered.

The officer who fired wasn't injured. The names of both the officer and the man weren't released.

Police say an investigation is under way into the shooting.
