Police in Canon need help with hit and run accident

The Canon City Police Department (CCPD)is looking for help solving a hit and run accident.

Yesterday afternoon CCPD officers were dispatched to a report of a person possibly falling from the rear of a pickup truck at Leslie Lane and Field Ave.around 2pm.

After arriving on scene officers determined that the man had not fallen from a pickup but had been riding a bicycle when he was hit by a pickup.

The man was unconscious and transported to St. Thomas More Hospital The man's identity is unknown and he remains in critical condition at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs today. The man is described as a white male, estimated to be 30 to 40 years old, medium build, brown hair with a beard and goatee. He had been riding a blue and yellow "Easton" mountain bicycle.

Witnesses at the scene described the run vehicle as a black or black primer possible smaller pickup truck, possibly being driven by a female driver. The truck was traveling south on Field and turned west on Leslie Lane.

Canon City Police is seeking assistance with identifying the rider of this bicycle as he had no identification on him. Police is also asking for assistance in identifying the run vehicle.
