A string of bank robberies have cops puzzled on who the suspect could be. The latest came Saturday afternoon at a TCF Bank near North Academy and Austin Bluffs. "At about 12:26 a man came in to the TCF Bank on 4330 North Academy and held up the teller at gunpoint." explains Sgt. Dale Fox with CSPD.
The robbery is very similar to one on Saturday, January 15th at another TCF bank. In fact, police believe the robber is responsible for 4 of the last 5 bank robberies in Colorado Springs. "This appears to be part of an ongoing pattern of 4 robberies so far." explains Fox, "We know it's the same guy. We just don't know who he is."
Details on what he looks like are hazy at best. The suspect is described as a male, 5'9 - 6'0 with a medium to muscular build. But it's how he robs the bank that leads police to believe they're all connected. "(It's) his general description, his demeanor, his method of operation." says Fox, "We can tell by the things he says, the way he holds his gun, everything."
If you have any information on the robberies, you are asked to call CSPD's Robbery Unit at 444-7868 or 444-7539.
