Police attempting to defuse a tense domestic situation on City's Southeast side

Colorado Springs Police from the Sand Creek Division are investigating a custody dispute where a Mother came to take her children to a local Easter service from her estranged Husband and claims she was told he had a weapon as a threat. The woman was able to retrieve her children safely but when officers arrived they found that the male had outstanding warrants.

Police have set up a containment area at the Arbor Pointe Apartments in the 2500 block of Hancock Expressway. Officers and supervisors on scene have attempted several times to make contact with the man by phone without success. They have located his vehicle in the parking lot and have evacuated apartment units connected with the suspect's.

Officers are seeking to open a peaceful dialogue with the man to defuse the situation. The identity of the suspect and others involved have not yet been released.
