Colorado Springs Police made an arrested in the stabbing death of a transient, whose body was discovered in Monument Creek Tuesday.
Salvador Jose Perez, 38, is being held on a charge of First Degree Murder. No additional arrests are expected.
The victim was Christopher Evan Allen, 20.
Chief Richard Myers said "I'm extremely proud of the extraordinary work by members of our Department. In the last two weeks, our officers and detectives have responded to four distinct homicide events resulting in the deaths of six persons, as well as several other crimes of violence. This was on top of an already excessive case load for investigators. In that same time period, investigators have arrested three persons for First Degree Murder, and one for Aggravated Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, which cleared a January bank robbery and implicated at least two other people. This level of performance can only be sustained through tenacious and dedicated police work. It is an honor to work with such committed public servants".
