Plan now to recycle that tree

Christmas trees can be recycled at seven locations in El Paso County on the first two weekends in January.

Discarded trees will be ground into mulch and then given away for gardens and landscaping.

Locations:

  • Baptist Road Trailhead - Baptist Road & Old Denver Highway
  • Falcon Trailhead - Southwest of Woodmen Road & McLaughlin Road
  • Cottonwood Creek Park - Dublin Boulevard & Montarbor Drive
  • Sky Sox Stadium - Barnes Road & Tutt Boulevard
  • Rock Ledge Ranch - Gateway Road (to Garden of the Gods) & 30th Street
  • Memorial Park - Pikes Peak Avenue & Union Boulevard
  • Rocky Top Resources* - 1755 E. Las Vegas Street

Drop off those trees on January 1, 2, 8 and 9 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

*Rocky Top Resources will operate as an extended Treecycle site from
December 27, 2010 through January 31, 2011.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Closed Sundays

A tax-deductible, suggested donation of $5 per tree will be applied to Colorado Springs Youth Sports, Inc. and the El Pomar Youth Sports Park to support youth sports programs throughout El Paso County. El Paso County Treecycle sponsors include: Asplundh; City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services; Colorado Springs Utilities; Dick's Sporting Goods; El Paso County government agencies; Colorado Springs Youth Sports, Inc.; The Gazette; Rocky Top Resources; SB Porta Bowl; and Waste Connections Inc.
