It's turned into a gruesome case of animal abuse at a farm in El Paso County. Workers at the Venetucci farm say someone's been attacking their pigs. "It's just disheartening that something like this could happen." says Susan Gordon, the farm's manager.
In less than a week pigs at the farm have been brutally attacked twice in the middle of the night. A five month old female who now noticeably limps has gotten the worst of it. "We discovered that the T-post had been pulled, the electric fencing had been down." explains Gordon. After examining the massive wounds to the pig's backside and head, her handlers at Venetucci believe a steel fence post was used in the brutal attack. "The wounds on the smaller of the two pigs were consistent with someone taking the T-post and whacking her across the rear end because there was a big gouge. Then it looks like they took the post and got her across the face because her jaw looked as though it was broken." says Gordon.
In the last attack, the five month old was found bound by her legs. It's left Gordon and her husband Patrick trying to figure out how someone could attack these animals. "We want to be able to put our animals out there to do what they are meant to do and to live how they are meant to live and not have to worry about these kinds of attacks." he says, "It tells me that they lost their humanity."
If you or anyone you know has any information about the attacks you are asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at (719) 520-7333.
