Philharmonic to announce new conductor on May 21

The Colorado Springs Philharmonic has announced Lawrence Leighton Smith will be unable to conduct the May 21 and 22 concerts due to health concerns.

A new music director has been chosen after a two-year search.  The identity of that person will be revealed on May 21 and will conduct the orchestra that night.  The concert starts on May 21 at 8 p.m. and on May 22 at 2:30 p.m.

All Colorado Springs Philharmonic concerts are performed at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts, 190 South Cascade Avenue.

Tickets run $18 or $12 for students.  Tickets are available at 719-520-SHOW, Pikes Peak Center Box Office, online, or at the door.
