TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - University of Arizona students and others made up a line several blocks long by midday Wednesday outside of the Tucson arena where President Barack Obama is scheduled to speak.

Deputies are present to control the crowd. Some people brought lawn chairs, food and snacks. Obama is expected to remember the six people killed Saturday in an assassination attempt against Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who had been meeting with constituents outside a grocery store.

The White House said Obama would meet privately with the victims' families before the service. In total, 19 people were shot, six fatally. Others were injured trying to flee the shooting.
