Around 30 horses evacuated from the fire zone have a safe shelter at the stables at the Norris Penrose Events Center and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office says there is room for at least 170 more. The emergency animal shelter open mid-afternoon Saturday and volunteers with the Kit Carson Riding Club and other members of the community have stopped by to lend a hand. At this point the sheriff's office says they do not need any more volunteers, feed or other donations. The stables will remain open throughout the duration of the evacuation. Evacuees in need of shelter for their horses can bring them to the events center at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Rd, in Colorado Springs. Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®
