Parkdale Fire now contained

The fire burning near Royal Gorge west of Canon City has been contained.  A total of 628 acres are reported burned.

It took about 275 firefighters to finish containment. "Achieving 100 percent containment has taken a true interagency effort from every firefighter, law enforcement officer, and supporting resources involved in the response," Incident Commander Todd Pechota. "We are thankful to everyone for their hard, disciplined work and the expressed support from the community."
