Parents are behind bars after being accused of the attempted first degree murder of their daughter.
Back in July, a nine-month-old girl was treated at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs with extensive injuries.
At the time, the injuries to the child were suspicious and Colorado Springs Police were notified.
Yesterday, Colorado Springs Police arrested Amanda Sims and Jesse Kaizen after a four month investigation into those injuries.
"These cases are kind of delicate, and when you're dealing with an infant that age you don't have any very good witnesses. That's a big part of it," says Lt. David Whitlock with the Colorado Springs Police Department. "So in this case there were a lot of complications, a lot of details that need to be assured before you charge someone with something this serious."
The child is now in custody of the state.
Police say while the child may not be dealing with physical injuries, they will likely have issues to deal with for the rest of their life.
