DENVER (AP) - A panel drawing new Colorado legislative districts is discussing which maps to send to the state Supreme Court for approval.

State legislative districts are redrawn every 10 years to account for population change and new maps can influence who controls Legislatures for years to come.

Colorado has a split Legislature. Democrats currently have a five-seat advantage in the Senate and Republicans hold a 1-seat edge in the House.

The 11-member panel has had some partisan disagreements over how to draw districts in some of the state's most populous counties but they have to agree on House and Senate maps to submit to the state Supreme Court by Oct. 7. The panel will be discussing final maps Monday.
