In Pueblo, children who don't have enough food at home will be getting some help this week. Today, The Qwest Foundation and The United Way of Pueblo County donated $10,000 to help feed hungry students.
In Pueblo City Schools 350 students will receive food sacks on Friday. In School District 70, 33 students will get a backpack of food on Thursday.
School counselors helped identify children most in need of help. "We actually have more kids this year that don't qualify for free and reduced lunch that still cannot afford to eat," said Lynette Pantello, District 70 School Board President. "That really opens your eyes to the fact that kids are hungry," she added.
Each child should receive enough food to last for a few meals.
