Operation Happy Holidays kicks off Tuesday

Tuesday marks the fourth annual Operation Happy Holidays.

500 soldiers from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division stationed at Ft. Carson loaded donated items like food and clothes in field packs at Dorchester Park then marched to the Marian House in downtown Colorado Springs. They will also team up with members from the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Staff at the Marian House will make sure that all donated items are received by members of the community who are in need.

Operation Happy Holidays began in 2009 and in 2012, the program helped an estimated 1,600 people.
