Thursday will be the last extremely hot day in southern Colorado. Increased moisture will move into the area beginning Friday. Wet air does not heat up as fast as dry air, so temperatures this weekend will be cooler in the afternoon. With the wetter air moving into the area over the next several days, this will increase the chance for afternoon and evening storms. Some storms this weekend could create locally heavy rainfall, so with the ground a dry and as hard as it is the threat for flash flooding will have to be closely watched.
Thursday forecast:
Colorado Springs: 20% chance for an afternoon storm, breezy, high 92
Pueblo: 20% chance for an afternoon storm, breezy at times, high 100
Monument: 30% chance for an afternoon or evening storm, breezy, high 88
Teller County: 30% chance for storms, breezy, high 80
