One more mild day ahead of cold and snow

Daylight saving time comes to an end overnight. Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour before bed tonight or first thing Sunday morning.

Skies will remain mainly clear overnight with temperatures falling back into the 30s by Sunday morning across the lower elevations. Expect another beautiful day Sunday with mostly sunny skies overhead. It'll be mild and breezy out as well with highs in the 60s/70s and a west-southwest wind sustained between 10 to 20 mph.

A storm system will impact the state including us here in Southern Colorado Monday night through Tuesday night. Precipitation will move develop across the region Monday night - rain initially over the lower elevations with snow up in the high country. Precipitation will be in the form as snow for everyone by Tuesday morning. Rain/snow is likely across the much of Southern Colorado through the day Tuesday with highs ranging from the low to upper 30s.

Snowfall totals with this storm look greatest over the mountains with the lesser amounts expected over the plains. Here are some possible snowfall totals for the 24 hour period between Monday night and Tuesday:

Central mountains: 4 to 10 inches

Eastern mountains: 2 to 8 inches

I-25 corridor: 1 to 3 inches

Eastern Plains: Less than 1 inch

Please keep in mind that these amounts are subject to change as more information becomes available as we get closer to Tuesday. Stay tuned to KOAA over the coming days for updates including right here on KOAA.com.

Conditions will improve into the second half of the workweek. Expect mostly to partly sunny skies Wednesday through Saturday with highs warming from the 40s on Wednesday to the 50s/60s by Friday.
