A family centered argument nearly became a deadly incident late Friday. Colorado Springs Police officers were called to a home in the 2700 block of Meadowlark Lane for a family disturbance at about 10:00pm Friday. When officers arrived they came into contact with a 48 year old man later determined to be the victim. The man stated that he had been called to the residence to assist a friend with her intoxicated son, 22 year old Joshua Roddie. Roddie's mother was trying to get him to leave the home but became violent. When the victim arrived he was stabbed in the arm by Roddie with a kitchen knife. It was reported that at one time Roddie was locked out of the house, but was able to forcibly regain entry into the home while holding the knife.
Colorado Springs police did not offer any details on how Roddie was eventually disarmed and taken into custody. Roddie has been booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center for attempted first degree murder and first degree burglary. The victim was later taken to a local hospital for treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.
