One dead in semi-truck accident north of Trinidad

The driver of a semi-truck died yesterday about six miles north of Trinidad when the truck rolled.

James Smith, 52, of Mesquite, Texas was northbound when he ran off the side of I-25 and onto the center median.  The truck crossed both oncoming lanes and ended up on the west side of I-25.

The truck was pulling two trailers filled with UPS packages.  Both stayed connected, but one spilled its cargo.

Smith died in the accident.  A passenger, Jeffrey Poland, 43, from Heath, Texas was hospitalized in Trinidad.
