Olympic wrestler, soldier cited for poaching deer at Lexus dealership

COLORADO SPRINGS - A man was cited Thursday evening for allegedly poaching a deer at a local car dealership.

Colorado Springs Police say Dremiel Byers, 39, was charged Thursday by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) with several hunting and wildlife violations after witnesses called police. Those witnesses reported a man was at the Lexus car dealership just off 8th Street near Motor City, stalking a deer with a bow.

When officers arrived they found Byers, and a buck that had been hit by an arrow.

Police called CPW to assist in the poaching case.

Byers is a 20-year army veteran stationed at Fort Carson.  He's also a world-class Greco-Roman wrestler.  Byers competed in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games representing Team USA.
