A plane that crashed in Alaska has at least two high-profile passengers aboard.

A U.S. government official says former Sen. Ted Stevens is believed to have been aboard the plane. And defense contractor EADS says that one of its executives, former NASA chief Sean O'Keefe was also aboard.

The fate of both men is unknown. There are reports from the scene of fatalities.

A total of eight people were believed to have been aboard the plane, which crashed 20 miles north of Dillingham, in severe weather.
