Some Colorado Springs and Fountain police officers are working for tips to make a little extra money. That money will go to a special charity.
It's not often you get waited on at a restaurant by someone with a sidearm, but today at the Peak Grill, just off of Centennial, officers were working for tips to help the Special Olympics.
"We do everything but actually take orders from our guests. We don't know their menu here as well as we would like so we want them to get the right food, but we'll bring their food, start them with drinks and we'll do some bussing and table cleaning," says Sgt Ralph Maher with the Fountain Police Department.
"Tip A Cop" programs have been going on in Colorado Springs since 1994. For the last 11 years they have partnered with Peak Grill.
Today the officers made about a thousand dollars for Special Olympics.
