Officers: 21-year-old steals Colorado Springs police car

Update: Police say they were investigating a crime, when they saw a suspicious man. 

When they contacted the man, Dustin Guinn, officers discovered that he had a felony and misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. 

He was then secured and handcuffed into the back of a patrol car.

With the suspect still in the car, officers checked on a potential stolen vehicle in the immediate area. Then, Guinn removed his handcuffs and opened the window that divided the backseat and front seat of the patrol car. 

Next, police say he stole the vehicle. 

Seven minutes later, Guinn crashed into a fence and tree along Corona Street.

He was charged with motor vehicle theft. 

COLORADO SPRINGS -- Police say a 21-year-old man was arrested and accused of stealing a police car.

The suspect, Dustin Guinn, also hit other vehicles. 

It occurred on the west side of Colorado Springs.
