Officer shoots armed suspect in Evans

EVANS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer opened fire on an armed male suspect during a disturbance in Evans south of Greeley.

Police say the suspect, whose name has not been released, was shot just after 1 a.m. Saturday. He is being treated at a Greeley hospital, but the extent of his injuries has not been released.

As part of standard procedure, the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave. No other details were released.
