Officer dragged, fatally shoots woman

Officers say a Lakewood police officer fatally shot a woman after she tried to drive away from a traffic stop with the officer's arm still trapped inside the vehicle.

The officer was dragged a few feet. He suffered minor injuries.

The officer had pulled the vehicle over shortly after midnight Thursday. Police say the vehicle and license plates had been reported stolen in separate incidents.

Another officer arrived as backup, and one approached the driver as the other approached a front-seat passenger.

Police say the passenger became combative and an officer shot him with a Taser. Police say the woman tried to drive away during the altercation.

She died at a hospital. The passenger was arrested on suspicion of violating parole.

The names of the woman and the officers haven't been released.
