Obesity, teen pregnancies top health concerns in Pueblo

The Pueblo City-County Health Department says reducing obesity and teen pregnancy rates in Pueblo County are its top two health priorities over the next five years. The health department says Pueblo County has "significant concerns" regarding these issues, when compared to statistics in other counties around the state.

Pueblo: 26%

Child overweight (2-14 year olds)
Pueblo: 31.15%
Colorado: 27%

Child obesity
Pueblo: 15.6%
Colorado: 14%

Teen intended pregnancy (15-19 year olds)
Pueblo: 42.8%
Colorado: 27.7%

Unintended pregnancy (20-24 year olds)
Pueblo: 53.3%
Colorado: 51.8%

Birth rate (15-19 year olds)
Pueblo: 60.4 per 1,000
Colorado: 37.5 per 1,000

Under the Colorado Public Health Assessment Act, all Colorado counties are required to complete a comprehensive community health assessment every five years.
