CHICAGO (AP) - President Barack Obama is in his hometown to raise money for his re-election campaign.

Obama will speak at three fundraising events Wednesday, including a video conference with supporters gathered at house parties around the country.

The president's quick stop in Chicago is his first trip outside of the Washington region in more than a month. The contentious debt ceiling talks that wound down this week forced his campaign to cancel 10 events around the country so the president and staff could stay in Washington to work out a deal with Congress.

Because of the canceled events, the campaign says it expects to raise tens of millions of dollars less this summer than the $86 million it raised in the spring.
