President Barack Obama meets with top lawmakers from both parties today in hopes of launching a new jobs bill toward quick passage.

The president's proposed a package of small business tax breaks and new lending that he hopes will appeal to Democrats and Republicans. But Many Republicans are suspicious of the package's spending component.

Answering Obama's weekly Internet address, Congressman Jeb Hensarling of Texas said the GOP is not interested in a repeat of Obama's first-year stimulus plan.

Still, key senators aim to move ahead on legislation this week with at least a goal of winning bipartisan support.

Meantime, Obama's call for a televised summit on health care later this month has been met with GOP vows not to take part in a sales pitch for Obama's overhaul plan.
