Obama cites savings in student loans measure

President Barack Obama is hailing a student loan bill he's about to sign as the gateway to returning college graduation rates back to the top worldwide, and save money doing it.

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says the result of the measure will be more student lending, caps on repayments and more money for minority colleges and universities.

Obama is expected to sign the education bill into law Tuesday.

in the House succeeded in linking the education bill with the health care overhaul over stiff Republican objections. It gives Obama a series of accomplishments - including an agreement with Russia on nuclear weapons- after a rough and divisive several months.

Obama says the achievements show "what's possible when we can come together to overcome the politics of the moment."
