Obama awards 3 wounded Fort Carson Purple Heart

The Army says three Fort Carson soldiers wounded in Afghanistan were awarded the Purple Heart during President Barack Obama's visit to Kabul last weekend.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported Friday that Obama gave the soldiers the medals a day after they were attacked March 27 in a roadside bombing. The soldiers were with the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team stationed in Kandahar province. Brigade spokesman Maj. T.G. Taylor confirmed that Obama presented the soldiers the award but could not provide details of the attack.
