CU professor honored by national science academy

A professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder has been elected to the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine.

Kristi Anseth of CU's chemical and biological engineering department is among 65 new members and five foreign associates announced by the honorific and advisory organization Monday.

Anseth also is an associate professor of surgery at the University of Colorado Denver and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator. Anseth's work has included designing materials to accelerate bone healing, grow cartilage tissue and help regenerate defective heart valves.
