No one injured as firefighters battle 3 alarm blaze

One resident unaware that a three-alarm fire was threatening their apartment complex was evacuated from the Berkshire Apartments in Colorado Springs Thursday afternoon. Firefighters also rescued a trapped dog and they're still looking for a missing cat.  No one was injured.

At least six units of the complex were burned, displacing the residents.

The fire grew to three alarms as firefighters battled the wind to extinguish flames. They finally cut a hole in the roof and poured water down into the attic to make sure no fire was smouldering inside.

The Berkshire Apartments are on Innsbrook Place, near Vickers and Academy.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department strength at this fire: 7 engines, 4 trucks, 3 battalion chiefs plus support units. 55 firefighters on scene.
