No charges for death of driver in possible road rage case

Prosecutors now say they won't pursue charges over the death of a 71-year-old man who was knocked out after an argument with a driver in El Paso County.

Investigators say Robert Gott was stopped at an intersection in early September when the driver behind him honked because Gott failed to go after the light turned green.

Police say Gott then got out of his vehicle, and the other driver, 57-year-old Kevin Cooke, did the same. They say Gott grabbed and pushed Cooke, prompting Cooke to push back. Gott fell backward and hit his head on the ground. He later died of his injuries.

The DA's Occife said yesterday that Cooke was justified in using force to defend himself.
