Nine mayoral candidates participate in debate

Nine men vying for Colorado Springs mayor defended their views Tuesday evening at Centennial Hall.

They were asked questions about the city budget, the future of Memorial Hospital, the Southern Delivery System and many other issues facing the city.

This mayoral election is the first for the new "strong mayor" form of government for the city.

The candidates include Kenneth Paul Duncan, Dave Munger, Richard Skorman, Phil McDonald, Tom Gallagher, Steve Bach, Mitch Christiansen, Buddy Gilmore, and Brian Bahr, as listed on the city's website.

News First 5, The Gazette, and the League of Women Voters organized the debate. News First 5 will rebroadcast the debate on News First Now February 23rd - 28th. It will air at 7 p.m. on 2/23, 2/24, 2/25 and 2/28. On the weekend of 2/26 and 2/27, it will be repeated at 8 p.m.

The city election is April 5.
