A person close to the National Football League says Anheuser-Busch is in talks to become the official beer sponsor of the league. Rival MillerCoors says it won't renew its
sponsorship.

The person - who is familiar with the negotiations but requested anonymity because the deal isn't complete - says an official announcement could come later Tuesday and declined to specify terms or which of the company's beers would be the official beer. MillerCoors CEO Leo Kiely says the company made an offer that expired at midnight Monday, but it wasn't accepted.

The company's Coors Light sponsorship dates to 2002 and runs out after this season. The company won't disclose how much it paid for the sponsorship.
