EL PASO COUNTY - There were some heated moments at the Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District board meeting Thursday night. Board Secretary Alfred Kreps distributed copies of a document that he later read from publicly scolding of one of the candidates running to replace him on the board.
Without ever mentioning his name, Kreps went point-by-point refuting claims made by candidate Ronald Pace on his campaign blog. Kreps says he was moved to speak from his position of authority because he felt Pace's blog posts were untrue.
"I wanted the community to know that the information presented there in was improper and I used his documents to show it," Kreps said.
Pace said he was taken aback that a sitting board member would publicly criticize him and his writings as a candidate.
"I think that being unfairly attacked in the situation that I was in puts a lot of pressure on somebody," Pace said. "I knew they were going to do it. I just figured this was their last hurrah."
It was the final board meeting for Kreps, board president Keith Moulton and vice president Robert Lovato.
Pace is one of six candidates vying for the three open seats in the May 6 special district election. The other candidates include Walter Porter, Steven Kreps, Carl Lukins, and husband and wife Francisco Gonzales and Lynne Bliss.
