The Department of Corrections confirmed Friday morning to News 5 that Brandon Shaffer is the parole board chairman, replacing Dr. Anthony P. Young who previously held that position.
Shaffer is not new to the parole board. He was appointed as a regular board member by Gov. Hickenlooper in February 2013.
Filling the 7th vacant seat is Dr. Marjorie Barbara Lewis.
All parole board members in Colorado are appointed by the Governor's Office.
Dr. Anthony P. Young resigned following allegations of missing money at a Denver museum where he served as board chairman.
The Governor's Office will not elaborate on Young's resignation, calling it a personnel matter.
Young denies any wrongdoing, but did say he resigned because he felt it would be best for the parole board and did not want to embarrass Gov. Hickenlooper.
Young is no longer serving on the Black American West Museum board of directors.
